Event Description

This keynote address will discuss the navigational processes of Latinx first generation students as they navigate infrastructures within highly selective institutional contexts. Select institutional and policy levers will also be discussed, allowing professionals who serve students in higher education to glean practical implications for their unit.  The address draws upon select studies of students from varied majors, characteristics and community contexts (n=286 students). The intent of the talk is to elevate student voice, and outcome data to better understand how to create infrastructures that cultivate a climate for Latinx and URM, and first-generation students to thrive in college and in their career trajectories.
